Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 10, 2026
The short version: Quilt is a set of free, browser-based tools. We don't require an account, and the patterns you design stay in your own browser. This policy explains the details.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Quilt ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Quilt website and tools (the "Service"). We've designed the Service to work without collecting personal information, and we keep what little we do touch to a minimum.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
You do not need to create an account to use Quilt. We do not ask for your name, email address, or payment details to use the tools. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, because we don't collect it in the first place.
3. Data Stored in Your Browser
The Service saves certain things locally in your browser using localStorage. This data lives on your device only — it is not transmitted to us or to any server. It includes things like:
- Quilt patterns you create and save in the Pattern Maker and My Patterns library
- Your selected theme
- Progress in guides such as the First Quilt guide and the Block of the Month program
- Your daily visit streak
Because this data is stored in your browser, clearing your browser data — or using a different browser or device — will remove or not include it. You can export your saved patterns at any time from the My Patterns page to back them up.
4. Information You Send Us Directly
If you email us — for example, to suggest a block or report something missing — we receive the information you choose to include in that message (such as your email address and its contents). We use it only to respond to you.
5. Analytics and Cookies
The Service does not require cookies to function. If we use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand overall traffic, that data is not used to identify individual visitors. We do not use advertising trackers.
6. Third-Party Services
The Service may load resources such as web fonts, and may link to third-party websites. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their policies.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Data Security
Since the patterns and preferences you create are stored in your own browser rather than on our servers, you retain control over that data. No method of storage or transmission is ever completely secure, but keeping data local minimizes exposure.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
